Project Description

The city of Chatsworth, California is located at the north west corner of the San Fernando Valley.  The local mountains are various colors of soft golden brown boulders with California Oak and Live Oak trees growing in the mountains and on the valley floor. This painting is at Stony Point, a popular place for rock climbers. I walked to the back of Stony Point and the pathway leads up and over the first of three train tunnels that were drilled and blasted through to get to Simi Valley.  I wanted to study shadows, so I came early in the morning to observe the sun coming up and watch how the sunlight and shadows moved.
