Project Description
Coastal lupine unlike meadow or other lupine grow in large bushes. The flowers have a heavenly scent and are lavender colored as compared to the more intense purples and blues of field or high mountain lupine. It was a warm March spring day when I sat in the sand surrounded by the plants in full bloom. The small breeze would surround me with the scent of the flowers as if I was bathing in it. The experience was so memorable. I have not been able to duplicate that day. Every time I went back in the spring time, it was either too soon for the plants to bloom or too late. I ended up painting quite a few paintings featuring the lupine in full bloom. This is one of those paintings.
